Tax Fee Comparisons – Haskell and Gorman

I am looking at the 2012 and 2011 tax forms of a Bankruptcy client of mine. Her tax form included a 1040A, Schedule EIC, Schedule 8812, Form 8867, a Mass form 1 and schedule HC. In other words, an individual form with children, including an earned income credit and a child tax credit. There was no house, or business or anything else that might run up the cost. Gorman Tax Service charged her $204, up from $189 the year before. This is not unreasonable. Gorman is a good tax preparer, and I have seen others charge more for similar service. I charge $90 for the exact same thing. My fee includes e-filing which I am required to do as I am a professional tax preparer. I would asume her return was e-filed as well.
